FPV simulator guides

An FPV simulator lets you learn the sticks before you risk a quad. These guides get your radio working as a controller and the sim set up. We don't rank simulators or describe how they fly: we haven't flown them, and these pages are researched from the EdgeTX, ExpressLRS and Betaflight docs and the sims' own stores.

• You own an EdgeTX radio (Pocket, Boxer, TX16S): use your radio as a simulator controller. USB joystick (recommended), ExpressLRS Bluetooth or Betaflight HID, then calibration and a fix list for "sim doesn't see my radio".
• No radio yet: the same guide weighs a radio against a sim-only controller. If you'll buy a real quad soon, a radio carries over; see our RadioMaster Pocket ELRS setup.

Steam's store pages couldn't be loaded on our October 13, 2026 check, so the Steam rows have no store link, price or PC requirements yet; "Steam" there comes from third-party store listings, not from a page we could open. Buy sims only from velocidrone.com or Steam, never from "free download" sites.

Version notes

• Our sim guide follows EdgeTX 2.12.4 (September 2, 2026) github.com. If the computer doesn't see the radio on EdgeTX 2.12.0–2.12.2, the 2.12.3 release fixed USB joystick detection on some devices github.com. Back up models and the SD card before updating.
• ExpressLRS BLE Joystick works on ESP32-based TX modules only expresslrs.org. On ELRS 4.x, Backpack is disabled in Bluetooth mode github.com.
• Simulator builds: the sims don't publish version numbers we could verify, so check each sim's patch notes if a screen looks different.

Safety

Make a separate SIM model with both RF modules off, so the radio doesn't transmit while you practise. If you use Betaflight HID on a real quad, turn usb_hid_cdc back off before you fly it, and take the props off if a LiPo is plugged in. How we source these pages: how we research.
