About Stickbench
FPV setup, step by step, on current firmware.
Stickbench is an FPV setup lab and gear finder. We write step-by-step guides that match the software you actually have open (Betaflight App, ExpressLRS, EdgeTX, FPV simulators), and we build spec and compatibility tables from manufacturer data. The aim: get your radio bound, your quad configured and your next purchase right.
We want to be the calm, exact bench where you set up your FPV gear right: current firmware, step by step, honest about what was bench-tested and what was researched.
Why this site exists
FPV setup trips people up in predictable places. Betaflight Configurator is now the Betaflight App, so the screens no longer match many popular videos. Two ExpressLRS release lines are in use, and they don't connect to each other. Retailer spec lists sometimes disagree with the manufacturer.
We write for the moment something doesn't match the tutorial: a beginner whose new radio won't bind, or a pilot choosing a video system or a second quad.
What you'll find here
- Setup guides for the Betaflight App, ExpressLRS, RadioMaster radios with EdgeTX, and simulators. Each guide has numbered steps, a troubleshooting section and the versions it covers.
- Comparisons and compatibility tables, sourced from manufacturer pages with a check date.
- Spec tables across brands, so you can compare size class, weight, video system and receiver in one place.
- Owner-opinion roundups, clearly labelled as summaries of owner reports, with every source linked.
What we don't do
- We don't claim to have flown or tested gear we haven't. Every page today is researched. How we research explains the labels and what has to happen before a page can say "bench-tested".
- We don't publish "tested & ranked" lists or reviews.
- We don't give advice on getting around aviation rules, Remote ID or legal power limits. Our drone rules page links straight to the regulators.
Who writes it
Pages are written and maintained by the Stickbench team. We don't use invented pilot names, personas or credentials. If a named bench tester or pilot joins later, their name will appear on the pages they worked on.
How the site is funded
Stickbench may earn affiliate commissions from some links in the future. No programme is active yet, and commissions never change our steps, specs or recommendations. See our Affiliate disclosure.
