Betaflight Configurator is now the Betaflight App: where to get it and what changed
Quick answer
Betaflight Configurator has been renamed the Betaflight App. The current release, 2026.6.2 (September 16, 2026), runs in your browser at app.betaflight.com and can be installed from the browser for offline use. Desktop installers for Windows, macOS and Linux, plus an Android APK, are on downloads.betaflight.com downloads.betaflight.com. The App now uses the same version number as the firmware, so pick the one that matches your flight controller betaflight.com.

Web app (PWA) and offline install
Open app.betaflight.com in a supported browser (see Browser requirements). It's a Progressive Web App: install it from the address bar and it works fully offline betaflight.com. The online App updates automatically betaflight.com.
Desktop installers (Windows, macOS, Linux)
The 2026.6 notes say installers for the new Tauri-based desktop App are published at downloads.betaflight.com, with bundles named betaflight-app betaflight.com. The 2026.6.2 files are actually named Betaflight-2026.6.2-…, so match the version number, not the file name. The page also lists a nightly build (2026.12.0-alpha, rebuilt often; the October 14, 2026 build on our check); unless you're testing pre-release firmware on purpose, skip it downloads.betaflight.com.
Android and iOS
- Android: the 2026.6 notes add native firmware flashing and on-device file picking for backups and logs betaflight.com. A mobile browser should at least manage Bluetooth; USB needs the native app betaflight.com.
- iOS (as of October 14, 2026): Betaflight opened a public TestFlight beta on October 10, 2026. iPhones don't do USB serial to a flight controller, so it connects wirelessly: Bluetooth (a Bluetooth FC or a BLE module on an MSP UART), an ESP32-S3 Betaflight Bridge on the FC's USB port, or an ExpressLRS receiver in Wi-Fi mode (bench only, because ELRS turns the radio link off while Wi-Fi is on). It needs iOS 17+ and Betaflight 2026.12 firmware, which hasn't been released yet. Flashing and full setup stay in the web and desktop App betaflight.com.
Older versions
- Configurator 10.10.0 (April 28, 2024) and 10.9.0 sit under "Legacy Configurator releases" on downloads.betaflight.com; anything older is on GitHub downloads.betaflight.com.
- App 2025.12.x: the wiki says 2025.12.x moves to a separate URL once 2026.6 takes the main one, but doesn't name it betaflight.com. We won't link a guess. The 2025.12.1 and 2025.12.2 Android APKs remain on downloads.betaflight.com.
Avoid: mirrors, Snap and the old Chrome Web Store app
Search results still show GitHub forks and mirrors, a Snap package and the old "Betaflight - Configurator" Chrome Web Store app; none is listed on downloads.betaflight.com downloads.betaflight.com. Our advice: third-party installers can be outdated or tampered with, so download only from app.betaflight.com, downloads.betaflight.com or github.com/betaflight.
Which App version works with your firmware?
| App version | Firmware supported | Source (checked Oct 13, 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Configurator 10.10.0 | 4.5.3 down to 4.2.x | Official list betaflight.com |
| App 2025.12.1 | 2025.12.x, 4.5.x down to 4.3.x | Official list betaflight.com; changelog: "Increment minimal supported API to 1_44 (firmware 4.3)" github.com |
| App 2026.6.x | 2026.6; no official list for older lines | Release notes betaflight.com |
| iOS beta | 2026.12 and later | Betaflight blog betaflight.com |

Officially, since 2025.12.1 the App requires firmware 4.3 or newer, and Betaflight's compatibility list ends at App 2025.12.1. Inferred from the App's source code, not an official statement: the 2026.6.2 code still accepts MSP API 1.44 (firmware 4.3) up to 1.48 github.com.
What to use:
- 2026.6.x firmware: app.betaflight.com or the 2026.6.2 installer.
- 2025.12.x or 4.3–4.5.x: the officially listed App is 2025.12.1. If tabs misbehave in 2026.6.x, the clean fix is a firmware update (see our firmware update guide).
- 4.2.x or older: Configurator 10.10.0 from the legacy section.
Find your firmware version: connect, open the CLI tab and type version ("Show firmware version string" in the CLI reference) betaflight.com.
Browser requirements
The official sources disagree; the newer one wins.
- Wiki (still describes 2025.12.1): needs a Chromium-based desktop browser with WebUSB and WebSerial (Web Bluetooth optional), such as Chrome, Edge, ungoogled-chromium, Thorium or Helium. Privacy-focused browsers such as Brave may not work reliably betaflight.com.
- App 2026.6.1 (August 2, 2026): changelog entry "Remove Chromium check, FF 151 supports WebSerial" github.com. The 2026.6 notes confirm the Chromium-only check is gone now that Firefox 151 ships WebSerial betaflight.com.
Our reading: with 2026.6.x, use Chrome, Edge, another Chromium browser or Firefox 151+. Safari isn't named as supported; the notes mention it only as a browser where passkey login can be unreliable. ESP32 flashing is Web Serial only for now betaflight.com.
What changed from Configurator to App
Renamed and moved to the web (2025.12.1)
With 2025.12.1, Configurator became the "Betaflight App", a web app most pilots can use without installing anything; the native programs became "older versions" betaflight.com. In 2026.6 it took the firmware's version number.
The 2026.6 interface rebuild
Per the 2026.6 release notes betaflight.com:
- Rebuilt on Vue 3 with Pinia, progressively adopting the Nuxt UI component library.
- Icons changed from Font Awesome to Lucide, so buttons look different from older videos.
- The top header bar was retired. Connection status and utility actions now live in the sidebar and each tab's own toolbar. The notes give no exact positions, so we don't either.
New tabs
- Flight Plan: lay out waypoints on an interactive map. The autopilot is only tested in simulation; the notes warn: "Do not arm a real aircraft with autopilot enabled."
- Autotune (experimental, Expert Mode): reads a Blackbox log with chirp-sweep data and recommends Simplified Tuning slider values.
- Preflight: weather, Kp index, battery status, density altitude, civil twilight, plus NOTAMs and airspace data. Treat it as a convenience, not permission: check your regulator's tools and our drone rules page before you fly.
- Blackbox Viewer: offline log analysis, separate from the Blackbox tab.
Removed or hidden
- Transponder tab: removed; transponder settings are now in the firmware CLI.
- Virtual Connect and Manual Connect: hidden unless Expert Mode is on (Options tab).
- Absolute Control: hidden in the PID tab on MSP API 1.48+.
The release notes list no tab renames betaflight.com.
Firmware Flasher and Backups
- The Flasher's four sub-tabs are now two, Board & Build and Flash. It shows each target's status (Verified Partner, Vendor/Community or legacy), can restore a pre-flash backup after flashing, and moves backup-on-flash into advanced settings.
- Backups gains a Restore button; cloud backups use passkey login with an email-code alternative.
Connect your flight controller
- Plug a data-capable USB cable into the flight controller itself betaflight.com.
- Web app: in the port selector choose "I can't find my USB device", pick your board in the browser dialog, click Connect. For Bluetooth: "I can't find my Bluetooth device", then Pair betaflight.com.
- Desktop or Android app: select the board in the port list and click Connect.
- ExpressLRS Wi-Fi (native app): a manual TCP connection (10.0.0.1 direct to the receiver), work-in-progress as of 2025.12.1 betaflight.com. In 2026.6, Manual Connect needs Expert Mode.
The wiki puts the port selector top right, written for 2025.12.1; in 2026.6 connection status moved to the sidebar.
Next: our setup guide, then receiver setup for ELRS.
App not detecting your board? Quick fixes
- Swap the cable. Some USB cables are charge-only.
- Use the port dialog. The web app needs you to pick the board once via "I can't find my USB device".
- Change browser. Chrome, Edge, or Firefox 151+ on 2026.6.x; avoid Brave while troubleshooting.
- Close software holding the port. Betaflight names 3D-printing software as a common culprit.
- HID joystick mode takes over USB; enable "Show all serial devices" in the options. Using your radio as the sim controller avoids this: see our simulator controller guide.
- Windows drivers (a fix to try, not a confirmed requirement). STM32 VCP drivers aren't needed from Windows 10 on; boards that connect but won't flash usually point to missing drivers and the ImpulseRC Driver Fixer. The page doesn't say whether the web or Tauri App changes this.

FAQ
Is Betaflight Configurator discontinued?
Only the name. Since 2025.12.1 it's the Betaflight App; Configurator 10.10.0 remains a legacy download for older firmware.
Does the Betaflight App work in Firefox?
Yes, from App 2026.6.1 with Firefox 151 or later. The wiki still says Chromium-only, but it describes 2025.12.1.
Which App version works with Betaflight 4.5?
Officially App 2025.12.1 (4.5.x down to 4.3.x) or Configurator 10.10.0 (up to 4.5.3). No official list exists for App 2026.6.
Why does my Betaflight look different from the video?
Most videos show Configurator 10.x or App 2025.12. App 2026.6 retired the header bar, switched icons and added tabs; see the table above.
Where is the Transponder tab?
